The Lovers

The surrealist artist, René Magritte famously described his paintings as “visible images which conceal nothing; they evoke mystery and, indeed, when one sees one of my pictures, one asks oneself this simple question, ‘What does that mean?’
This is the artist’s interpretation of ’The Lovers’ drawn in patterns derived from, the master of the expressive language of colour and drawing, and a leading figure in modern art, Henri Matisse.
The artist pays homage to the masters who have shaped art for humanity.

In the Tribute to the Masters series, the artist takes classical renaissance subjects and reintroduces the historical artwork with a modern style.
This is an interpretation of Raffaello Santi’s angels as originally drawn at the center bottom of the great masterpiece ‘The Sistine Madonna’. The ‘The Sistine Cherubs’ or ‘Raphael’s Two Putti’ have their wings drawn in patterns derived from the artworks of French Post-Impressionist artist Paul Cézanne.

When once asked to state the values he was trying to impart in his work, Keith replied:
“A more holistic and basic idea of wanting to incorporate art into every part of life, less as an egotistical exercise and more natural somehow. Taking it off the pedestal. I’m giving it back to the people, I guess.”
